Well Remembrance Sunday once again saw a good turn out for the annual Poppy match fished on the Bristol Avon, between the Keynsham and Newbridge.
Although just over 100 tickets were sold 96 fished. The day started with the customary silence with match organizer Bill Milton reciting exhortation, act of remembrance.
The river fining down after the recent heavy rain it look right for the match to produce the big weights that the Bristol Avon is noted for, well we should have known better after all the Angling Times sent a photographer down.
After the weigh in it was all back to the rugby club for the results the raffle and a very special auction,to help boost the the fund
The auction of a mystery item saw Kevin Dicks Maver Bathampon and Mark Harper Thatchers Preston Innovations lock in a bidding war for this special prize that would see you round the bend, it was Mark Harper that was successful and much to the amusement of all the anglers and him self he was presented with a u bend. (he was not too disappointed he received an envolope with a very speical gift)
After all the donations were counted the match raised £844.00 for the fund.
